Louisiana Mid Continent Oil and Gas Association issued the following statements today in response to Scott Angelle being named Director of the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement:
Chris John, LMOGA President:
“Today’s announcement of Scott Angelle as Director of BSEE is good news for America but especially good news for the oil and gas industry in Louisiana. Since Scott previously served as the Secretary of Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources, he has a keen understanding of the significance of our offshore industry to Louisiana’s economy and good-paying jobs, also has an appreciation of the need for sound and sensible safety and environmental protections.
“Louisiana’s offshore oil and gas industry has a $44 billion economic impact on the State of Louisiana and we are confident that, as Director of BSEE, Scott Angelle will provide the industry with even more opportunities for increasing investments in the Gulf and producing American Energy.”
Lori LeBlanc, Director, LMOGA Offshore Committee:
“Scott and I had the pleasure of working alongside each other at the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and during the deepwater moratorium. Scott Angelle is committed to common-sense regulations that ensure safety and environmental protection with transparency and predictability to ensure that America’s offshore oil and gas industry will continue investing in the Gulf and producing jobs and energy that fuel America. We look forward to working with him in this new role to strengthen American energy production in the Gulf.”
